Oh, and the Mass mandated health insurance- I can't speak super well to it because honestly it has made zero impact on my life, other than that I have to spend an extra 2 seconds on my tax returns to fill in an extra box.
I think the MA state-run health plan has income specifications that I don't meet, so as far as I know, it's not an option for me. Otherwise, I would totally seriously consider it. I'd love to add a healthy, low-cost person to their pool, especially if it meant lower premiums for me.
It's become abundantly clear during this health care debate that insurance companies are really, truly despicable and evil. I've read several interviews with former insurance execs admitting that their practices are intentionally designed to maximize profit at the cost of human health and lives. We have arrived at a juncture where we can no longer entrust private insurance companies to be making decisions that impact people's health. And a healthier population is a net good for everyone, from herd immunities to having more people healthy and able to work and produce in society.
And not all lawyers are evil. Many are just trying to perform in their profession to the best of their ability, and many genuinely care about righting wrongs. Plus, I kinda depend on them to pay my salary.
