I was going to rant about the dismal state of affairs in this country, but... I just don't have a good rant in me. I'm just so disgusted with everything that is going on these days, and would love for the wingnut righters to take just one day off so I can ignore them for a little while.
Instead of depresso ranting, I give you a blog that just made me lose it with giggles Crappy Taxidermy (I have only looked at 1.5 pages, I make no sfw promises and if you're squeamish about taxidermized animals then this is not for you. That said, it's friggin' hilarious.
Finally, I am beyond excited for tonight's live performance of The Nightman Cometh. Supposedly there will also be a showing of a season 5 episode and some other stuff. I just hope it gets out at a reasonable hour (i.e. before the Red Sox game ends).

Also, I never found taxidermied animals appealing. I had trouble dealing with Jay and his squirrel. So I'll have to pass.
I hope your show goes well and you get out before the game!

Heh. I had forgotten about the squirrel, that was an amazing time.
Thanks! I can't wait, I'm so excited for the show (and kinda hoping that I see the gang somewhere around the city as I make my way down to the Kenmore). I hear Ben Affleck is filming something in Harvard Sq. today, too.
ignoring right-wing nutters ..
"There's a SEKRIT PROVISION in Obama's healthcare bill that will require each and every American to share his/her toothbrush with a Mexican !"
Re: ignoring right-wing nutters ..
There is no way to talk reason with these people when they aren't even living close to reality.

although with our country now, it would be the East/West vs Middle/South.
I also believe that 99.9% of this hatred towards Obama is due to racism...the South cannot get over the fact he's African American, they never will..They look at him and they think he is not American...i mean, no matter how much proof they have he's born in Hawaii....And all i think of i wish his mom still was alive because maybe some of this racism would be destroyed actually seeing who his mom was and that she was a very strong woman........and you know reports from the CIA & FBI have come out with statements that Obama has like 700% more threats to him than any other president in history and he only been in office 9 months...
The right do this all the time though, but with 24/7 news media, its now 1000% worse.....the louder they scream these lies and nonsense, the more they will get in the news....
Jon Stewart last night had some footage from the Tea Party rally in DC last weekend and the things people are saying are just so Un-American...these people need to look themselves in the mirror and see who they really are...these Racist RIght Wing Nut jobs that to me are traitors to our country.
Too hope the President of our country fails is the most un-american thing you can probably do....If Obama fails, our country is done, done done.......how on earth can you want our president to fail, no matter who he is?
I mean we all hated Bush, but i hoped every day he would do some things right...i didnt want him to fail in Katrina or War against Terrorism...But these Right Fucking Wingers what Obama to fail....this boggles my mind. can you get any more un-american than that?
they are the party of Lincoln, i mean do they realize who Lincoln was? Then they talk about ronald reagan as their hero as well....Theres no way Reagan would stand for any of this madness....
These people have no idea about anything, they want to spread fear & hate, they have no intentions of solving any problems....if they hate Obama's plans so much, they could atleast bring something different to the table....BUT they dont, they just spread fear & hate, and they have no new ideas....they never will...

Trying to limit the bigotry and hatred we're currently seeing in this country to specific regions is folly. It just helps the right-wingers cause of "us vs. them." Part of getting through this wave of hate is to try to be above that. It's hard; it's hard for me, too. But I can tell you for a fact that there are lots of sane, non-crazy good people living in the South and the Midwest.

One of my best friends lives in Mobile, Alabama, and he is a die-hard liberal, but he tells me all the time theres no way he would wear an Obama T-shirt or put an Obama sticker on his car..But then there are some inspiring stories that a small town in Alabama just elected its first ever black Mayor...but those stories are never discussed that much, the news media focuses on the bad stuff usually.
then theres the Texas Governor a few weeks ago was talking about succession...Thats the Governor of Texas...i mean, imagine like Duvall Patrick saying Mass is going to vote for succession from the Union if McCain/Palin won the election...his political career would be over...
I dated this girl from Texas many years ago, and she was a die-hard republican....it was weird because her mom worked for Hallaburton and was far more liberal than her, and did not agree with her daughter at all about Bush or anything, she hated Bush.... but her dad was definitely a right wing die-hard republican....lets just say my relationship with her only lasted a few months...we got into too many heated arguments stemming a lot from racist comments she would make towards Blacks and even us from New England...she loved Bush, thought he was the best president ever and used to yell at me that if i didn't support Bush, i was not supporting the Troops or our Country and crap like that....now of course i could of easily met someone like this from Mass, but the anger she and her Dad towards the Left was really different than anything i had ever seen up here in New England before....I remember we got in a huge argument because she hated Bill Clinton, and i said to her well if you hate Bill Clinton, then its ok, but if i hate Bush, then im un-American in her eyes...this just made no sense to me...
I get a lot of it up here in Maine too...Catherine and I put up about 50 Obama signs in about a 20 mile radius in our surrounding towns during the election...Not one of the signs survived, someone ripped them all down, every single one down, but yet the McCain signs were all in tact...no one dared to touch those...i mean so i can't even put up a sign fearing someone might rip it down?
I just feel like that the Republicans lost, so their only goal is to make sure the Democrats suffer, instead of trying to come up with solutions to problems we have...Im talking about the Politicians here, not the people....
Believe me, i dont want this Us vs Them thing at all, i just wish there was a way to bring people together civilly and stop all this hate talk and figure out how to actually make our country better...

However, I do agree with you that the facts indicate this country still has a significant problem when it comes to racism, and that there's no way that fact isn't an important player in the strife we're experiencing now. Just recently in fact, Jimmy Carter said that he believes racism is a big player in the opposition to President Obama. (Source: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/15/carter.obama/index.html)

(Anonymous) 2009-09-16 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)I personally think it is, its not 100% of the problem, but its definitely a problem.
This morning MSNBC interview an African-American woman who attended the Tea Party in DC, who was there to say she opposed Obama for policy only, and didnt think race mattered since he WAS elected President....But MSNBC anchor came back and said, so what is it exactly you oppose about Obama's policy?
She said, the bailouts, and the war......Well, the MSNBC anchor came back and said you do realize the bailouts & War was started by the Bush Admin, so why werent you fighting against Bush back when they were in charge?
She had no answer for him except for saying she's against the policies of the government.
See this is my biggest issue with the American People, is that it seems a large portion of the American people dont know what they are fighting for or fighting about? They are blaming Obama for stuff that was happening before he was elected...They blame him for a lot of the Bush policies, its just insane!
I feel like they are being lied to, and they are just following the leader. Whether Palin mouths off about Death Panels, or Joe Blow mouths off "you lie", that millions of people believe what they say and dont actually check what the actual policies are.
And its also from the left to because back in the day, a lot of people blamed Bush for the 9/11 attacks. Michael Moore made a movie about it....so its from the Left to...
I just feel like this country has become so Right vs. Left that i just dont see how we can all come together....
its like instead of trying to make our country better, we fight about who is most popular, we try and destroy the opposition, and we never resolve anything anymore.
This new "Gang of 6" health care policy that came out today is a joke, it resolves nothing, and the crazy thing is that the 3 Republicans on this "gang of 6 panel" aren't even going to vote for their own bill....they are against their own bill they just wrote....so how is this possible? its just really frustrating listening to all this back n forth that resolves nothing and creates just more divide.
