WAHT. That's a typo, but it actually conveys my thought on this news, so I'm keeping it. They are rebooting Buffy without Joss. Craziness. I don't know who they think is actually going to watch this movie. I haven't kept up with the season 8 comic, I should really pick up the issues I've missed for some holiday reading.
Short week this week- I get out early on Wed., and West has his 4 month doctor appointment on Monday, so I have 5 and a half solid days with the little guy. The timing is very good because tonight I am having a bit of an emotional breakdown about not spending enough time with our baby. It didn't help that the train was stupid late this morning so I had to stay later at work and got home around 5:45, which is just way too late. Though walking through Boston at dusk with all the buildings lit up and trees strung with holiday lights was a really nice. Why is it so hard to try to have it all? Also, I am incompetent with kids and don't really know how to play with babies. Shaking toys in front of him is not working. I need a checklist of fun games babies like. And like, a step by step instructional video.

Seriously. Buffy doesn't need to be "updated." Things that were still on the air during the present decade are not yet out of date, Hollywood. Good LORD. What a stupid idea.
(Also, hurray for home time with West!)

Seriously, we are on track to get reboots of things that don't yet exist if they keep this up.

Yay for time home with West!
And there's not a lot babies do at that age in terms of play - so it's not that you're doing anything wrong, or not enough. He's probably (3.5ish-4ish months? am I remembering right?) still in the stage where he's busy exploring and taking it all in, but doesn't do a lot with toys. Gina only started actually "playing" (which mostly means "does this fit in my mouth?") at around 4-and-change. Till then it was all about looking and seeing stuff happen. So you shaking toys is probably just right.

He'll be 4 months next week, this is such a huge relief to hear! There's way too much information out on the internet, it helps to hear from a real person with real baby experience. He really loves it when Drew bounces him on a knee, that gets some good giggles.

I agree that you are probably doing exactly what you should be doing with West right now.
If you are looking for some specific ideas - as he develops he will be learning to copy your facial expressions so making different faces at him can be stimulating and fun. He'll look away if it gets to be too much for him.
And I know you sing to him, which is also a good activity. Patty cake, peek a boo, all those are okay, although he probably won't be interactive with them for a while.

Drew's really good with making funny faces, and he gets lots of baby laughs for everything he does. I try to make faces but West is really not super interested in me. I think I read that it happens like that sometimes, because babies see mommies as food and daddies as fun. Bleargh. It would also help if I could get some sleep sometime this week. Last night was not good. I'm so jealous that your new baby niece is sleeping through the night!

It seems Maddy has good nights here and there. But, don't believe the hype. She still wakes up a lot. I think Cheryl is just so relieved at good nights that she posts about it. However, I don't even have an infant yet and want to shake the ladies who brag about that on FB. Most people are not that lucky!
