I think I've written about this before, but anyway....
I'm fascinated by the fact that so many disparate events occur in order to bring about a circumstance or event.
How one little thing can change so much. Even the timing of seemingly inconsequential events.
I'll use an example that's not so much about me, 'cause I'd go on too much about myself.
My friend M. met her now-husband because she and I volunteered to take on three last-minute apprentices at the
radio station. I forget why exactly, but the three guys (obviously including the now-husband) had missed their scheduled apprenticeship earlier that week,
and M. and I had nothing better to do that night. A year later they got hitched. Not to mention the
simple fact that had M. and I not gotten to be good friends, she probably would not have had an interest in getting involved in the radio station at all. It's a neat story. So sometimes I get to pondering all the weird twists that happened for things that go on in my life. I.E.- I was not at all even planning to go to library school; had things gone the way I imagined, I'd be in New York studying gender politics right now. Had I not applied to Simmons, I would never have landed my current job- as it is, my boss fought tooth & nail to hire me since the powers that be wanted someone with more experience. And little things, like if I leave the house just 5 minutes later than my usual time it can make me a half hour late to work.
So anyway, it's a rainy day, I'm putting off cleaning the bunny's cage and waiting for my hair dye to finish setting. Now I've got to watch the Simpsons.
