You guys, I am going to fawn about a new-ish websitey thing for a moment. I've read a ton of blogs about it, and finally decided to give Stitch Fix a try after waffling about it for like a year. It was totally worth it!

First, I'll start by explaining that I am really tired of dressing myself in the old and haggard rags I have been wearing for at least ten years. The H&M shirts that have lost buttons, the two Ann Taylor shirts I wore too long into pregnancy and stretched out, the Express clothes that I bought in college.... ugh. I am just filled with existential dread every time I get dressed because I am so sick of my clothes. Anyway. So that's why I gave it a try, my poor closet needs some help. I am also lazy, time-deprived, and have little to no fashion sense so I always just buy black or blue clothes. I need some very specific hand-holding to get clothes that fit, are from this decade, and go a bit outside my comfort zone. I also have a pretty conservative dress code at work, so I mentioned that specifically when I signed up, and gave them the run down of what I'm looking for and what I like. You fill out a questionnaire about your style and sizes when you sign up. I had also read that linking to a pinterest board of stuff you like really helps them figure out what to send you, so I created a board and added the link to my profile.

I got three shirts, a dress, and a cardigan in my first box (no pictures because I am lazy, but I might do pics the next time I get a box). I kept two shirts and the cardigan, the other two things didn't fit right so I sent them back. How it works is you pay $20 for the box, then you pay for the items you want to keep, but as long as you keep at least one thing, you get that initial $20 off the cost. If you like everything and keep it all you get 25% off the total cost, which is a great incentive for keeping it all, but the likelihood of liking everything and it all fitting in the first few boxes you get is pretty low. As you buy things and give feedback it helps them build your profile a little more so I think the chances you liking more stuff increases the more you use the service. You can send it all back, but you'll be out $20. It was a more expensive than I am usually willing to pay for clothes, but the items are better made than the cheapo H&M stuff I usually buy. I am justifying it to myself by thinking this is what adult women usually pay for clothes (I do not have the TJ Maxx/thrift store eye for getting good deals that way, those stores just make my brain glaze over and I end up in a fuge state of unhappiness). You can while away some hours doing a google blogs search for stitch fix reviews and see tons of people posting pictures of what they get.

Here is a link with a referral credit, so if you want to check it out and sign up, if you use this link I get a kickback.
