Last night UPS learned a lesson in hell hath no fury like a woman who doesn't get her 9 pound box of hay. So, once a month I order hay from the loverly folks at Oxbow, and write "leave on porch" in the shipping instructions, because UPS has some rule about not leaving packages for apartments (never mind that entire area of metro-Boston is apartments, so maybe they should have more than one run of deliveries after 5:00 if they want to stick to that rule). Usually, this is no problem, and my hay gets deposited on the porch. Once in a while a driver neglects to read the instructions, or just outright ignores them, and I don't my hay. When this happens after I've had the worst day of work ever, well, let's just say that the poor guy came back to our house and gave me the damn package last night. My heart goes out to the guy, but seriously, I don't write "leave on the porch" for shits & giggles, I write it because I want the package left on the porch.

In other news, I just exchanged some ILL emails with a librarian who was sitting 3 rows behind the infamous Bartman at last year's Cubs game.

Hey. Quick question. Where do you get all your pet supplies from? Petco is killing my wallet.

We get hay from Oxbow, they do all kinds of small critter stuff, but not cat/dog (what kind of pet do you have?).

We do get litter from Petco, because there's one close to Drew's work and none of the little places carry the kind we like. But it is insanely expensive.

There's a small pet store on Elm Street near Porter Square called Big Fish Little Fish, they have stuff for all kinds of pets, but it's not as well-stocked as a big chain. There's a vet place on Mass Ave. between Harvard & Porter that I've walked by, it looks like they have some cat & dog stuff.

Guinea Pig! Brownie! Remmeber? She goes through her Timonty Hay like it's crack and we get that PetCare bedding which is pretty expensive.

It's so true; hay = crack.

I ran out two days ago and didn't pick up any more because I'm going to my parents' house tonight and there's a pet store in my home town that stocks Sweet Meadow Hay (awesome, really fresh stuff). But Henwyn is going through severe withdrawal. She got very cranky with me last night and Would. Not. Stop. Biting. The. Bars.

ARGH!

UPS sucks donkey balls. We've had them deliver closing packages to the wrong state, and all they'll do when we complain is say they'll deliver them the next day. And these are dated packages that can't be used the next day.

Your wrath must be truly frightening. =)

Yes they do. They lost my Beastie Boy tickets last month!

Wow, they truly do suck. I can't believe you guys don't have enough leverage to demand better service!

My wrath- Oh you have no idea, I was in rare form last night. =) I was about to demand that the manager put the damn thing in his car and drive it over to me, but the beleagured driver brought it back.

I think you were right earlier. I think the Red Sox's curse has been distributed to all their fans. Jeremy and I have both been having horrible days. I thought he'd be giddy from the win, but too much shit has been going on. WHERE'S THE FUN? That's what I want to know.

DHL isn't any better for all the commercials. They were supposed to deliver the paychecks today at 10-30 am. We don't get them, payroll gives us the tracking number. They are in Fucking New Jersey still. DHL never picked them up. So DHL will "try" to get them to us on Monday since we aren't open on the weekend. They could get them here this weekend but not Monday?!?!?! They suck ass!
