Um, ok. So I may have written about this before, but I may not have, so I'm writing it now.
Part of the documentation we need to show Visa for them to cover the accident we had back in June with the rental car is proof that we don't have car insurance. So we have to 1) find a notary, which is going to a pain in the ass, and 2) have them sign something that says we don't have car insurance. Dude! With the power of technology these days, they don't have some sort of system in which they can look us up and see if we have car insurance?
So not worth the hassle. I will always be buying the stupid insurance that the rental car agencies offer. And I really wish we had a car of our own!
In other news, we had a good weekend. The Fabulous 20-something party was indeed quite fabulous. Kudos to P&P for throwing a great shindig! I got to wear my fancy dress and red stripper shoes, and that's what a good Halloween party is all about. I spent Sat. running errands and hauling laundry down Broadway in the middle of our first snow-squall of the season. Of course, yesterday was gorgeous, and would have been much better for hauling said laundry around. But yesterday we did girls' brunch, which was very tasty and good fun.
Tomorrow I do some more Democratic volunteering. It was fun enough last week. I stuffed envelopes and then made some phone calls. I kind of enjoy the calls, I get to use my sauve radio voice.
I'm feeling the urge to watch Harold & Kumar and Dude, Where's My Car again sometime soon. I want some stupid movie goodness. Oh, speaking of stupid movies, Drew bought Night of the Lepus this weekend, which is wretched and wonderful and involves killer bunnies. It was a bad influence on Grendel.

Date: 2005-10-31 11:28 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, there are SO many insurance companies nationwide, that there really isn't a practical way for there to be a database for VISA to access to prove you don't have insurance. Granted, it would be a little easier in Massachusetts since there are significantly fewer companies that operate in the state (coverage requirements and rates are regulated by the commonwealth therefore the 'discount' companies like Geico can't make a dime so they don't even bother.)
