You know what feels kind of silly? Making more than one phone call to inquire about stores' stocks of fresh turkeys. I want fresh, not frozen! Un-brined so I can brine it myself! Wait- as I wrote this, I succeeded in finding one! Sweet. Poultry is good.

I am way more excited than I should be, as a sane person, for the season premiere of Supernatural tonight. Also- Gossip Girl mildly caught my interest last night, enough for me to keep it on probation for one more week, but it's still not nearly as charming as I'd hoped it would be. Dirty Sexy Money last night was not as entertaining as the pilot, but it was still much more awesome than I had anticipated this series would be. Also very excited for 30 Rock and the Office tonight! I watch too much tv!

In non-tv news, kung-fu continues to rock, as last night I attempted spinning reverse fan kicks.

I've seen gossip girl twice now. I kind of wanted to like it, to satisfy my love of all things teeny-bopish.
The voice over has to go. Plus, I'm really sick of the class warfare crap already.

Man, Kristin Bell's voiceover was the only thing keeping me the slightest bit interested in that show. :-) I think next week I'll just pop in one of my OC dvds to satisfy my teeny-bopper drama urges.

Also, Jen, I am also INSANELY EXCITED for SPN tonight. OMG! Sammeh! Dean! The dramaz!

Agreed on all counts! Including the count of loving all things teeny-bopish. That includes "modern takes" on Shakespeare.

I did kind of start liking Serena's brother and the wee "poor" chick. Man, I wish I could be poor and live in that awesome loft in Manhattan. I feel like we're supposed to have all this sympathy for Serena and we're supposed to like her, but she's just really obnoxious. And I want to like Blair because she's a cheap Summer From the OC knockoff, but she has zero likeability. I give it one more week!

i like to make herb butter (ah hem, regular herbs) and massage it under and over the turkey skin

Hee. I'm making it for a baby shower we're throwing for Anna on Saturday (I -so- wish you were here for things like this! You guys need to move back to this time zone soon!). See, I can't handle massaging birds, but we do have three fridges of varying sizes and temperatures to choose from for poultry storage, so it won't be sitting in a bucket growing germs. And Alton Brown has a recipe for brined turkey that is just divine, it's really simple but it comes out so well!

I'm...wary. I was not pleased with the finale, and am not exactly hopeful for my enjoyment of the new season. I think it may bum me out too much. (I'm surprisingly delicate for someone whose other favorite shows are Oz and The Wire. Heh.) I want to be excited, though, I do. Yay for your excitement! *g*

In another sign that the universe has turned on its head and something is direly wrong with me: I continue to actually enjoy Gossip Girl. Much to my inner shame. If it doesn't get canceled, I can foresee writing Chuck/Nate. Which...I don't really want to write about the date-rapist. Save me. ;) It doesn't remind me of the O.C. much at all, though. And I can see the class warfare thing driving me mad in short order.
