This and the "keep the government out of my Medicare" people make my head explode.

I don't really have much to say about the health care debate (though I use the word debate loosely) because it is just so common sense and so obvious that we need change, that I... just don't know what to say. Just today I had to reschedule an appointment for my yearly doctor appointment, the one I've been waiting months for, because the doctor is taking vacation on my previously scheduled appointment day. And that's relatively "gold plated" health care I've got. Nah, our system is just fine.

I think the point most attempt to make in their opposition of Obamacare, the burdening expense on the backs of those of us who produce in our society.

They also are not in favor of another intrusion of the govt into their lives. There are some rather hidden nanny state provisions in the bill. Such as home visits by "well trained" folks who will advise (try to tell) you how to raise YOUR child.

I believe in checks and balances and the importance of having more than one party making unilateral decisions. I think debate and thoughtful discussion of differing opinions are absolutely healthy and necessary to make the best decisions, but when I say "anti-health care bullshit" I'm not talking about reasoned disagreement. It's the loudest screamers who get the most attention, sadly, and people who are screaming really loudly right now are not winning any hearts and minds to their cause, especially when they're screaming about "death panels" instead of engaging on parts of the bill which actually exist.

As I said, I don't really have the stomach or the peace of mind to debate this right now -- and I can tell by your explanation of "burdening expense on the backs of those of us who produce in our society" that the two of us have a radically and fundamentally different worldview -- but IMO, there's a difference between saying "I disagree with the way the proposed system would fix health care" and saying "the system we have doesn't need to be fixed." I'm open to discussion of the first point. But the latter? I...really don't know what to say to that.

I wholly agree with you about how the discussion and debate should be a civil and reasoned. The ranting and name calling on both sides fails. I would never claim that current health care is perfect or even good. I do think that the majority of health care professionals in the U.S. are the best in the world. I do not know if pharmaceutical firms for profit has the best interest in humanity in mind when making their products.

I will respect your reluctance to continue debate further.
Be well.

On this, at least, we can agree. It's not the quality that I have issues with, but the access. :-)

Be well.

And you.
