Ugh. Home sick, feeling very pathetic.

So Rolling Stone has been running some really phenomenal journalism these days, care of Matt Taibbi. His latest article is great (well, great work, depressing to read through it and realize how totally screwed we are because our government is just completely beholden to corporations).

its the season for illness around here too - i have sinus congestion and an odd ache in my ear that I'm hoping will go away - i took one day off last week and just slept all day which seemed to help for a few days.

lk just left this morning for a conference in new york. he'll be gone til saturday so the next few nights I'm going to watch lots of TV and eat things like ramen noodles, mac and cheese, soup . . . and popcorn. there are only two problems to my scheme of having carefree mini sick days each night: 1) I have to clean our kitchen - its a real disaster that counsels towards a remedy earlier than Sunday when the dishwasher returns from his travels :); 2) a convicted rapist escaped in Martinez yesterday and still hasn't been apprehended despite hijacking a vehicle in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs.. . so I'm a bit freaked out at being home alone - at least I have two dogs and at least the smartest plan for said convict would be to flee martinez entirely.
