Not to be "that mom" or anything, but West is really getting into gear lately. This weekend he added a bunch of new words- diaper, Elmo, cracker, banana (said as "nana!!" with the biggest smile ever because this kid loooooooves bananas). He also claps and says "yay!" at the end of songs and is generally just adorable. It is fascinating to watch him become a little person. Finally got him trying a bunch of new foods, too- apparently watching other people is the key, he sampled a bunch of stuff from our plates at Gulu-Gulu yesterday.

Drew's mom was up this weekend, so we had a lovely visit with her, and we had an amazing night out in Somerville sans-child. I really needed that. Sometimes Old Life seems so far away and impossible to get back. It's so nice to have some moments of not being on mom duty.

Also: A Feast For Crows... wtf, that is not a way to end a book! So glad I don't have to wait 5 years to read the next book.

Yay for West's development! :) I loved working with 1-3 year olds when I was with KinderCare because it was so much fun to watch their development. I am already in awe of Quinn so I'm sure it will be even more so when he is a few months older.

Also, I hear ya on the adult night out front. Jere's sister kept Quinn for the night on Saturday while we were at the wedding. There was much wine drinking, dancing and even some shots! I don't know who that was, but I'm glad she gets to come out every once in a while.

I can't wait to see Quinn toddlin' around and saying words!

And yay for wedding fun! Glad it was a great time for you!

I think you don't truly appreciate the concept of freedom until you have kids. I love my babies, but going to the grocery store alone is pure heaven.

Martin is a big fan of cliff hangers. Let's hope book six doesn't take another five years. That would make me cry.

Seriously! I sometimes get a little wild eyed and tell child-free friends that they need to cherish every second of their freedom. Cherish it!!.

Seriously. The other day I was privately bemoaning the fact that I've started to lose myself. I miss having hobbies and non-child related, irresponsible FUN.

Wish I could see West toddling around! He's such a cutie pie.

I so hear that. Sometimes I really miss being able to go out to dinner and stumble home hours later drunk as a skunk. Or just go out to dinner without the potential for someone screaming at me for Cheerios...

I firmly believe in babysitters. It can get a little spendy, but there is no price on my sanity. Mommy and Daddy need to get out of the damn house and have adult time.
