Sorry, I'm a Posty McPostALot lately. Anyway, I got my October Birchbox and figured I'd share.
Here's
a picture.
First impressions, not bad. We had two choices for this month- a regular box or a box sponsored by goop (some lifestyle website started by Gwyenth Paltrow). I opted for the goop box, figuring they'd up the ante since they want eyeballs on their site. From what I'm reading of the non-sponsored boxes this month I think I chose poorly because regular boxes got mascara, and I'm kind of dying to get some new mascara. I think I'm becoming allergic to my trusty Revlon mascara. What's in the box:
Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Eye balm. I've always wanted to try Kiehl's and I am way too cheap to buy it, so I'll happily give this a whirl. Besides, I've got some serious undereye circles, so this can only help.
Jouer lip enhancer. Looks nice. I like lip balm. I'm not sure I'd ever pay $14 for the full size but maybe it will be amazing.
DDF wrinkle resist plus pore minimizer. I have wrinkles. And random white eyebrow hairs. I have no idea what my pores are doing, but what the hell, I'm not gonna complain about something I can slather on my face to see if it does something magical.
Beautyblender. It's a makeup sponge. I am not nearly handy enough with makeup to know what do with this, and I really prefer using my hands to apply things. So, meh, but I can see the value some people would get from this.
Luna bar and fancy teas. These are the lifestyle extras. Some people complain about these non-makeupy things in every box, but whatever. I am sure I will feel like a ravenous alligator some afternoon at work, and I will have that free Luna bar on my desk, and lo, I will devour it and I'll probably be pretty happy about it. And I like tea.
I remain pretty pleased with Birchbox. I also like that I can review the stuff in each box and earn points, and points turn into discounts. Couple that with the coupons they send randomly all month, it's possible to get some good deals. I actually really liked the color correcting cream in last month's box and the gel cleanser it came with, so I ended up buying the full size version and got a decent discount. I had a Treat Yourself moment.
