Kung fu class has suddenly turned into Teen Girl Squad. By "teen girls" I mean "female Tufts students," to be fair, but they were giggling and whispering. I think it's the nice weather that turns young one's minds to things other than their studies. Of course, back in my day, nice weather meant our minds turned to drinkin' more. If anyone ever wants to be my kung-fu buddy, well, I'd welcome some company. Though I did make acquantainces with someone in class, so at least I have one person to smile and say hi to.

I think I neglected to mention last week that I totally got a raise. And some awesome performance evaluations, because I rock the librarianship.

The new bunny is being just the cutest and sweetest little bunny in the world. I am filled with bunny-love. It's good.

Kung-fu update: Fourth class done. I didn't feel as graceful as a gazelle this time, but I think it's because I was just goofing up some steps in an intermediate longfist that I'm not supposed to know yet. I'm getting closer to nailing the very beginning series of moves that they've been having me do the most hardcore practice on. Though I think I need to start doing some yoga at home after I've done the gym thing, I need to be more bendy than I am now to really get my body to do what it should for the 'fu. But yay! It's fun.

So this weekend brought an awesomely fun time celebrating bacelor/bachelorette parties for [livejournal.com profile] thiswakingdream. I did not come home stinking of whiskey, but I did do a valiant job with a Jack & Coke that was all Jack, splash of Coke. And other drinkies. Boston Tank Top! This weekend also brought some excellent hanging out time with my girls and the world's cutest baby.

I just dropped a wad of cash for the Bates reunion in June, but it feels nice to not have it hanging over my head. So we are totally set. We will sleep in a dorm room, eat overpriced food, and booze it up at Pub 33 and The Goose for a weekend!

Last night was my second kung-fu class, and I think it went pretty well. The instructors said that I was keeping up well with the rest of class, and they were having me do stuff that was more complicated than what they usually start people with because everyone else is training for some seminar they're having soon. I can do kicks and some arm stuff that looks cool! So I committed to going for the next three months (i.e. I paid up for the next 3 months). Yay!

Have finished the March Book Club book, Forever by Pete Hamill. I liked it, it's a good read. I'm really looking forward to the Saramago next month.

So kung-fu was pretty sweet. It was a really intense workout (am so, so very sore this morning), and I've already started to learn a couple of really basic moves. The people were very nice and there were no knuckle push-ups in sight (have some very unfond memories of knuckle push-ups in my childhood karate classes... on a wooden floor, no less). So I'm gonna do this once a week, see how that goes for a while. They recommend twice a week, but that's time and money that I don't really have.

Hee. I'm learning kung-fu. Awesome.

I'm going to my first kung-fu class tonight!

I'm so totally nervous. Here's hoping I don't kick someone in the head or fall down in a really embarassing way.
