We have a lot of books. I have learned this by studiously boxing mine up and adding to the enormous stack of Drew's books. I wanted to weed my collection more than this, but I just can't part with books easily. That said, I do have a list of books that I'm going to drop off at goodwill or something soon, but I thought I'd post 'em to see if anyone wanted any free books. I'll warn you that for the most part, there's a very good reason why I'm not keeping these books, many of them are terrible.

The Named- Mariane Curley (teen supernatural)
Fangland- John Marks (adult vampire fiction)
The Illuminatus!- Robert Shea & Robert Anton Wilson (note: no household needs two copies of this book) (sci-fi?)
Forever- Pete Hamill (adult fiction)
The Last of the Red-Hot Vampires- Katie McAlister (braindead adult vampire fiction)
The Scandal of the Season- Sophie Gee (historical fiction)
A Flaw in the Blood- Stephanie Barron (historical fiction)
The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters- Gordon Dahlquist (adult fiction)
Temptation & Surrender- Stephanie Laurentis (adult romance)
Seven Types of Ambiguity- Eliot Perlman (adult fiction)
The Secret Circle- LJ Smith (teen vampire)
Death at Blenheim Palace- Robin Page (mystery)
The Wine of Angels- Phil Rickman (British mystery)
The Courtesan- Susan Carroll (historical fiction)
Home Buying for Dummies (outdated reference)

Let me know if you want one of these (or more?), you would have to be willing to come get 'em sometime in the next few weeks.

I'm not sure if you're familiar, but http://www.paperbackswap.com is handy for getting rid of books, but you get books you want in return.

That is a neat idea! I'm way too lazy to deal with it right now, but I may keep it in mind for future books. Thanks!

I don't want your books, but I would like to say when we bought our house, we had more books than furniture to move. We had a whole huge library in our apartment (we were renting a 2BR apt, and 1 of the 2 was our library). These were probably 90% NOT my books, but I sure did pack the hell out of those books when it came time. Man, it was a lot of books. And even packed into small book boxes, those stinkers were HEAVY. (Aye - and this was during my first trimester, to boot)

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to Saturday when we will be moving our books, dvds, cds, whatever other miscellaneous stuff we can pack between now and then... all by ourselves. We only want to pay movers for the really big stuff we can't do on our own, but I'm sure halfway through the day Sat. we will be regretting that choice!

No way! We have moved several times (with loads of stuff), and we haven't paid movers yet! (We just rent a truck, load it and go). You'll be tired, but you'll be FINE. Of course, you can always "hire" friends to come help you by paying them in pizza and beer!

I am jealous of your book packing. Ever since I worked in the Bates Bookstore I have gotten a super high off packing books in boxes to maximize protection of the spine and minimize space.

Also, you can totally handle the moving boxes part yourself. Just think, Little Brian, Lucas and I moved our entire household ourselves in 2-3 day time spans Twice in the last 1.5 years. And I know what you are thinking but there were NO illicit uppers involved. And there is NO WAY you can have more books than us.

Do not underestimate the power of offering beer and food to a strong male friend to help the hubbie - then you can scurry around 'cleaning' and 'organizing' and not have to lift much of anything.

The most frustrating things are 1) furniture requiring disassembly and re-assembly; and 2) that inevitable piece of furniture that will not fit through the doorway or up the stairwell. SO you will totally be glad you are paying movers to handle some of that.
