I started watching Girls last night (even though I should have been writing for Metafilter's JanNoWriMo, OMG writing is hard), it's better than I expected it to be. Very cringey and kind of giving me early 20s flashback hives, but it's pretty entertaining.

Heh, while I was watching it I was thinking "I can't really recommend this to Tenillypo because it is way too contact embarrassing." It's good, but yeah, I don't think you would enjoy it.

after having them all on the dvr for months, i started watching them tuesday and i couldn't stop. i haven't binged on pop culture like that in a long time.
all in all, i like it. i'll save my reasons why until after you see more.

I saw the first 2 episodes when I was in DC last month. I REALLY wanted to watch more. I too was surprised at how much I liked it and how much it reminded me of college/post-college.

I must have read so much on the internet about people hating on it, I was surprised to like it, too! I should remember that people on the internet don't always know what they're talking about. Are you two still watching Portlandia? The new season started off strong!

We are still watching Portlandia. It's such a hit or miss show, but this season has been good so far! Has it convinced you to come out and check out our fair city?

You know, I went to Portland once and was a little let down by it (so many people told me how much I would LOVE IT, it would have been hard to live up to that hype, and I think I'm more of a NYC/Boston girl), but if we had the money I would definitely want to visit you! I don't know when we'll have money for vacations, though, I am still contemplating joining the army to pay off my student loans...

With a few notable exceptions the show sadly gets caught in my "Horrible People Doing Horrible Things To Other Horrible People" filter. I have a very low tolerance for such things, sadly.
