Pretty much every night at bedtime when the lights are out and I'm rocking him West will point at the same corner of his room and say "who's that guy?" He is very insistent that there is a guy there even when I say I don't see anyone. I ask him what the guy looks like and he whispers "spooky." Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

I've been waiting to see if any particular stuffed animals would take off with West as special bed time stuffies. Pooh bear? Nah. Bunny from the local toy store? Nah. Miscellaneous other bunnies and bears? Nope. Panda? Yes. Of course it's the panda from the zoo in Bejing that is going to be impossible to replace if calamity ever strikes it.

Edit: Dang it, had another possible ghost situation this morning. We have a little potty on the floor of the upstairs bathroom for West, it's one of these Baby Bjorn deals with an inner receptacle. It was, as far as I know, on the floor next to the shower, intact. I was showering and heard a big bang clatter, like some stuff was falling off the sink counter or something. I looked out and saw nothing amiss, except the inner receptacle of the potty was now lying on the floor next to the outer part of the potty. It does not appear that anything else fell, so I can't figure out how on earth that situation happened. Seriously?!

Second edit: There was a giant spider in the kitchen later this morning. Like, a giant one that was all muscley and fierce and outside-looking. Drew suggests that it could be the culprit behind the potty knock-over. Quite frankly, it was big enough that it's a possibility, but that would mean I was alone in the bathroom with that giant scary spider without my glasses on. I like the ghost theory better.

I have worked really hard to not find any part of our house scary, and have been determined to not think "ghost!" while living here. Mostly because I don't want to be scared to get up to pee in the middle of the night. I'd been doing so, so well. I figured we were out of the woods anyway, given that we've been up at literally every minute of the night at one point or another this past year, and no remotely spooky occurrences have happened. So of course....

Last night during one of my half-asleep West nursing sessions (they have been going down in number, though, yay!) I had to pee, but I felt Drew get out of bed and heard him walk into the next room towards the bathroom. So I figured, oh, well, wait for Drew to get back. I waited and waited and thought that it was taking him a while to finish, then looked next to me and OMG, he was still in bed. Ok, no big, I chalked it up to being half asleep and imagining/dreaming things.

First thing Drew says this morning? "Either I was imagining things or we have a ghost." He had woken up in the middle of the night and saw me (or a me-shaped person) standing in the doorway to our room. Then he rolled over and saw me sleeping next to him.

OMG you guys. Normally my first thought is "Drew is messing with me," because I am a gullible, easy target. But I didn't tell him my story until after he told me his. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I am going to rationalize the hell out of this. I did in fact get up to pee last night, I am sure that what happened was Drew saw me going to the bathroom, fell asleep, woke up a few minutes later and didn't realize he had fallen asleep, and saw me. Yup. And I am sure I imagined him going to the bathroom because in my dream-mind I knew I had to get up to pee. And the a/c was making noises that surely sound like someone walking on carpet and then floor. No ghosts, please!

So, I didn't get the totally awesome ghost tour in Dublin that I was dying to go on, but now I totally want to go to this awesome haunted house. It's in NH, and is mentioned in an article called 13 haunted houses that will make you wet your pants. That sounds like a good time to me! The only hitch being that the only days left this month that I can do it are the 28th or 29th, which may make it crazy-crowded. Would anyone be interested in a pants-peeing good time? If we end up going, we'd have room in the car for 2.

Speaking of Halloween, [livejournal.com profile] bushidokelt and his lady threw a fantastic Halloween shindig this weekend. Between that and the resurgence of the Friday Night Thing, the weekend was excellent.
