Back at work! Leaving my little muffin in daycare was the hardest thing I've done in a long, long time. He was sleeping when we got there and slept through our leaving, so he woke up in a strange place surrounded by strangers. I'm trying to not think too much about that. I miss my little guy so much, but it is nice to be part of the adult world again. It would be a bit easier if it wasn't dismal and rainy today. I brought my pump intending to do a lunch time pump but forgot half the pump accessories that are necessary. Sigh. Things have been moving along today at a fast enough pace to keep my mind off my sadness.

I was going to email you to see how you are doing. You can always call the daycare and get some reassurance that he is doing well, if you think that would help. As far as I know, when they are that young they don't have that stranger/separation anxiety yet so as long as they are feeding him and comforting him, I'm sure he's doing great. I'm sorry this is so hard, but I think it will get better. :)

A few people at work asked me if I'd called to check in- I couldn't stand the thought of calling and hearing that he was crying and miserable, so I waited out the day. He did well! Now to get myself together...

I'm so glad to hear he had a good day. I can understand why you might want to call. Sounds like you made the right decision.

You should spoil yourself this week as much as possible. It is completely natural that this is difficult for you. Just remember to take care of yourself! You need a little extra TLC this week.

It was nice to get a bunch of happy welcome backs at work! He did ok! He's such a brave little guy. It was hard to put him to bed just now because all I want to do is cuddle him and stare at him, but 9 is already too late for little babies to be up. I seriously never thought my grinchy heart would care this much about going back to work!

I forget which firm you work at - is it down by Rowe's Wharf? If so, I think I *did* in fact see you walk through the lobby when I was there for a meeting today. I thought, "Hey, is that J? No, wait, I don't think she's back to work yet. Oh well." If so, wacky!

Daycare transitions are much tougher on the parents than on the kids at this age, I think. Gina was SO EXCITED by her first days of daycare that she came home exhausted from all the paying attention she'd been doing.

That's so funny, that was totally me, and I thought it was you, but then I thought "nah, what are the chances?" Totally wacky! Good to know about Gina and daycare. It looks like West handled it decently, they said he didn't cry that much and he actually ate some, which was my biggest concern. First day done, so it should get easier from here!

Wow - the time on leave went by so fast! Well, that's from an outsiders perspective who wasn't changing diapers and doing feedings 24/7. Keep strong chica- I'm sure West is in really good hands. And it'll make the nights and weekend time with him all the more special : ) Hope you are getting better sleep now that your neurons are expected to fire at the work world pace : ) Sending hugs!

Amazingly, the past two nights he's slept like a champ- he's been doing a stretch of 4-5 hours followed by a stretch of 2.5-3 hours. So much better than every 2 hours! I hope he keeps up with this!
